Job Profile

The Construction Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and directing on-site piling operations and training in the field. He/She will provide input into on-site decisions regarding problem solving, allocation of resources, and achieving objectives. The Construction Manager will be responsible for multiple worksites while ensuring compliance to DFI’s safety and operational policies and procedures. The position will serve as a liaison between frontline workers and management.

Job Duties

  • Manage onsite activities including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, and documentation
  • Manage personnel onsite ensuring compliance with DFI’s policies, procedures and safety requirements
  • Respond to employee concerns in an appropriate manner and take action to resolve the underlying issues
  • Establishes clear expectations and responsibilities for onsite staff
  • Manage and verify the scope of work, ensuring all contractual issues are resolved and dealt with in a timely manner, including change orders
  • Establish and deliver mechanisms for tracking work progress and reporting to Management via a formal communications plan
  • Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety concerns
  • Complete and file all safety and quality control paperwork in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of piling project budget estimates
  • Lead project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and report on work progress

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Engineering Technology or equivalent
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Gold Seal Certification or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in piling operations considered an asset
  • Proven track record of analyzing project scope, cost, and schedule, and taking appropriate action to ensure the project is completed in a timely manner, on budget, and to all specifications and requirements
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize responsibilities
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Superior leadership abilities with a demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with internal and external customers
  • Ability to supervisor and manage 15 – 50 people
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Valid class 5 drivers’ license
  • This is an onsite position requiring regular travel
